Paul says in Galatians 1: 10: “For do I now persuade men or God? Or do I seek to please men, I would not be a bond- servant of Christ.”
To persuade means: to influence .
To convince
To plead the case of.
to sway
to argue the case
To dissuade
Paul is asking if he is seeking to persuade men to do God’s will or God to accept men’s will. Am I man’s case to God trying his best to dissuade Him from placing His way upon us. Or is he pleading God’s case to us trying his best to get us to see how God’s way and His way alone is the answer to how we should be living.
Paul then states that how on earth could he be a servant of God if he were not pleading God’s case. To argue Mans case would be suicide. in working the works of men we only fall farther from the will of God. No, instead Paul as a faithful servant of Jesus is saying I sing unto the Lord who is and will deal faithfully with mankind when we come to Him at the cross then get up in the new life that He gives us and in obedience faithfully do as He ask.
